Mercedes S-Class Long Exclusive

Across successive generations, Mercedes consistently developed the same idea. The S-Class was never intended to be the sportiest or most ostentatious limousine. Its purpose was to cover long distances without tiring either the chauffeur or the passengers. Mercedes engineers followed a simple principle: if a new technology could save lives or improve comfort, the S-Class should receive it first. Innovations associated with the model include ABS, electronic stability systems and seat-belt pretensioners. Some cars respond to the market. For more than fifty years, the S-Class has often done the opposite — showing the industry what other manufacturers’ cars may look like several years later.

The Long version exists for a simple reason: many S-Class owners do not drive themselves. The additional length was not added for appearance. It was designed to make hours spent in the rear of the car feel considerably less demanding.
